Westbound SR 52 to Northbound I-5 Freeway Auxiliary Lane, Caltrans Project

A new auxiliary lane is being constructed to connect the westbound SR 52 to northbound I-5 freeway connector to the La Jolla Colony Drive off-ramp. Work along the shoulder has been completed and contractors are currently working to install drainage inlets and concrete barriers on site. Crews will continue to place signage when the freeway connector is closed to alert drivers and indicate recommended detours.

North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood, UC San Diego Project

Construction is well underway at the North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood with new student housing expected to be move-in ready by fall 2020. A closure of Muir College Drive is scheduled to run through late August to accommodate ongoing work. The project also will include the replacement of two traffic signal heads to add right-hand turn arrows and LED safety lights at the intersection of Genesee Avenue and North Torrey Pines Road.

Mesa Housing Pedestrian and Bike Bridge, UC San Diego Project

The ribbon cutting for the Mesa Housing Pedestrian and Bike Bridge was held on Feb. 25. The bridge provides a direct route for pedestrians and bicyclists between Mesa Housing, East Campus Medical Center and the Main Campus and will improve mobility for residents, students and staff. In early March, full road closures will be in place to reseal and stripe Medical Center Drive South. There also will be light impacts to the shoulder and sidewalks on Medical Center Drive South.
